about

This album is the second in a series of electronic music pieces designed to be used for meditation, yoga, relaxation, creative activity, and hopefully some active listening. The idea behind this album is to use a constant pulse of binaural beats in an attempt to put the listener in a different state of consciousness and surround that in electronic music and piano that is simultaneously thoughtful, rhythmic, and pulsating. Meditations, Volume 2 is designed to play seamlessly from one track to another and loop back onto itself. That means you could theoretically listen to the album for many hours more than the 60 minute length. This makes it work well for longer meditation sessions, creative activities, or something like yoga. I have been using this in the yoga classes I teach, and it works out very well bringing students out of their resting pose at the end of class and letting the album loop back to the beginning as we end class.

The science is a bit thin when it comes to binaural beats and their effectiveness. There hasn't been a ton of study done on it. There are some studies that say it has little to no effect, and others that say using binaural beats improve cognition and reduce anxiety. That said, I believe that setting INTENTION is powerful. I sat down with the intention to make music stimulating to the brain and consciousness. If the listener does the same, then the music becomes more than the sum of its parts because of the agreement we have made together. My hope is that it gives you the freedom to expand beyond these crude little bodies of flesh we exist in.

Please note that some file types and playback software will not support gapless/seamless playback. I would recommend downloading the .wav or .flac files for this instead of the .mp3 if you intend to have gapless/seamless playback.

Thank you Stanley Benkovic. I had hoped that we could do one of these together one day. You were taken too soon. Love and miss you always.
